Seborrheic dermatitis of the newborn usually develops between the ages of 2 weeks and 12 months: according to statistics, in almost half of babies, reddish or yellow scaly patches appear on the scalp.
The scalp is a yellowish, hard growth on the child’s head and sometimes on the forehead that may spread as red bumps on the child’s face and behind the ears. This is caused by the baby producing sticky sebum and is safe for the baby.
In such cases, the following skin care method can be used: once or twice a week, an hour before bathing the baby, apply baby oil or other vegetable oil to the baby’s head, which will help the skin peel off the skin easily.
When bathing, first wet the baby’s head and comb the scalp for a few minutes with a very soft comb. Then wash your hair well with baby shampoo and dry with a soft towel.
You can use baby shampoos specifically made for scalp dermatitis. Contact your pediatrician if the rash does not go away or spreads to the child’s face.
