What Allertec WZF is and what it is used for.
Allertec WZF is an antiallergic drug containing cetirizine that is used in adults and children
aged 6 and over:
- to relieve symptoms of the nose and eyes associated with seasonal and chronic allergic rhinitis (such as stuffy nose, a large amount of runny nose , itchy nose, frequent sneezing, red eyes, watery, itchy eyes);
- to relieve the symptoms of chronic idiopathic urticaria (long-term itchy blisters on the skin).
What you need to know before taking Allertec WZF.
Do not use Allertec Fexo
- if you are allergic to fexofenadine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Warnings and Precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Allertec WZF. If you have kidney problems, you may need to take a lower dose. Your doctor will decide the dose of your medicine.
If you suffer from epilepsy or have had seizures, consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
If you have difficulty passing urine (in conditions such as spinal cord injury or enlarged prostate), consult your doctor before using this medicine.
No clinically significant interactions have been observed between alcohol (at a concentration of 0.5 per mille (g / l) in the blood, corresponding to the concentration after drinking one glass of wine) and cetirizine at the recommended doses. However, there are no data available on the safety of higher doses of cetirizine and alcohol being used concomitantly. Therefore, as with other antihistamines, patients should avoid drinking alcohol while taking Allertec WZF.
If you are scheduled for allergy testing, ask your doctor if you should stop taking Allertec WZF for several days before testing. Allertec WZF may affect the results of allergy tests.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. Your doctor will decide whether Allertec WZF can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
How to use Allertec WZF.
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
The drug can be taken before, during or after a meal.
Swallow the tablets with a glass of water.
The tablet can be divided into equal doses.
The usual doses are given below.
Children from 6 to 12 years of age:
5 mg (half a film-coated tablet) twice daily.
Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age:
10 mg (1 film-coated tablet) once a day.
Patients with renal impairment:
The dose of the drug is determined by the doctor individually for children and adults, depending on the degree of renal dysfunction, age and weight of the patient.
The usual doses for adults are given below:
mild renal impairment – 10 mg (1 film-coated tablet) once a day.
moderate renal impairment – 5 mg (half a film-coated tablet) once a day.
severe renal impairment – 5 mg (half a coated tablet) every other day.
Do not use the drug in the case of severe renal failure with a creatinine clearance less than 10 ml / min.
Patients with hepatic impairment:
No dosage adjustment is necessary.
Elderly patients:
If renal function is normal, no dosage adjustment is necessary.
If you have the impression that the effect of Allertec WZF is too strong or too weak, talk to your doctor.
If you use more Allertec WZF than you should
If you take more than the recommended dose of the drug, immediately contact your doctor who will decide on further treatment.
Confusion, diarrhea, dizziness, fatigue, headache, malaise, dilation of the pupils, itching, especially restlessness, sedation, somnolence, stupor, increased heart rate, tremor, and urinary retention may occur after taking a dose higher than the recommended daily dose.
