The active ingredient of the drug is bisacodyl (Bisacodylum).
Excipients: shell: copolymer of methacrylic acid and ethyl acrylate (1:1), sodium hydroxide, triethyl citrate, polysorbate 20, talc, titanium dioxide (E171), cochineal red (E124), varnish, simethicone.
Dosage
Adults and children over 10 years of age: orally, 1-2 tablets at night.
Children aged 4–10 years: 1 tablet orally at night.
In elderly people and patients with impaired renal and liver function, there is no need to change the dose.
The drug should be swallowed whole with plenty of water, without chewing or crushing.
Action
Bisacodyl VP is a laxative and carminative that acts directly on the large intestine. As a result of its effect on the nerves of the intestinal wall, it increases intestinal contractions and stimulates peristaltic movements. The drug also increases the amount of unabsorbed water and electrolytes in the colon, which enhances its laxative effect.
Indications
Bisacodyl VP is used ad hoc for constipation of various origins: habitual and chronic constipation in bedridden patients, habitual constipation in the elderly, constipation after a change in diet, constipation in the postoperative period. It is also recommended for bowel movements before diagnostic tests and surgical interventions.
Contraindications
You should not use Bisacodyl VP if:
hypersensitivity to the ingredients of the drug,
acute abdominal syndrome (including intestinal obstruction, appendicitis),
abdominal pain of unknown etiology with nausea and vomiting,
Crohn’s disease,
ulcerative colitis,
gastrointestinal bleeding,
severe dehydration.
