“Compound
The active ingredients of the drug are an aqueous extract of linden inflorescences and dextromethorphan hydrobromide. 100 g of syrup contains an aqueous extract of linden inflorescences (DER 1:5) – 25.0 g and dextromethorphan hydrobromide – 0.1 g.
Excipients: sucrose, concentrated chokeberry juice 65%, citric acid monohydrate, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, raspberry flavor 7111, purified water.
Dosage
Always use this medication exactly as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Oral administration
Children from 2 to 12 years old only on the explicit recommendation of a doctor.
Recommended dose
children from 2 to 6 years: 2.5 ml of syrup 3 times a day.
children from 6 to 12 years: 5 ml of syrup 3 times a day.
adolescents over 12 years of age and adults: 15 ml of syrup 3 times a day.
Do not exceed the recommended dosage.
If you take more Dexapico than you should
Desctromethorphan hydrobromide has low toxicity, but overdose symptoms are exacerbated by the simultaneous use of alcohol and psychotropic drugs.
Symptoms of overdose include nausea, vomiting, central nervous system (CNS) depression, dizziness, dysarthria (speech disturbances), nystagmus, somnolence (drowsiness), agitation, confusion, psychotic disorders (psychosis), respiratory depression. Abdominal discomfort, hallucinations, hypotension, and ataxia (incoherent movement) may also occur.
Treatment of overdose should be symptomatic and supportive.
If you are using a large dose of the drug, contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
If you forget to take Dexapico,
Skipping a dose of the drug will not have a significant effect on the course of treatment. Continue therapy at current dosage.
Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
Contraindications
When should you not use Dexapico?
if you are allergic to linden blossoms or dextromethorphan hydrobromide or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
if you have a cough with copious discharge;
in patients with bronchial asthma;
in patients with severe liver diseases;
in patients with respiratory failure or risk of its occurrence;
if the patient is simultaneously taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and within 14 days after their discontinuation;
in patients taking selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs);
in patients taking mucolytic drugs (thinning of mucus in the respiratory tract).
