Dexapini is a syrup containing dextromethorphan hydrobromide and substances with supporting properties: pine extract and dill tincture.
Action
Dextromethorphan hydrobromide is an antitussive agent.
Its effect, lasting 6-8 hours, is to suppress the cough center in the central nervous system, thereby reducing the frequency of dry cough attacks.
Dosage
children 6-11 years old: 5 ml 3 times a day, which corresponds to a single dose of 6.5 mg of dextrometrophan. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 60 mg of dextromethorphan.
for adolescents over 12 years of age and adults: 15 ml 3 times a day, which corresponds to a single dose of 19.5 mg of dextrometrophan. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 120 mg of dextrometrophan.
Contraindications
When should you not use Dexa Pini?
-if you are allergic (hypersensitivity) to the active substances or any other ingredient of Dexa Pini
– for coughs with copious discharge, asthma, severe liver diseases
– if you are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and mucolytics (those that thin mucus in the airways) at the same time
– in children under 4 years of age
– for liver damage, alcoholism, epilepsy, brain damage and mental illness (due to the ethanol (alcohol) content – a single 15 ml dose of the drug contains 1.1 g of ethanol).”
