“Glycerin-based suppositories for rectal use.
Therapeutic indications
Glycerol Sofar Adults suppositories are indicated for the short-term treatment of recurrent constipation.
Dosage and posology
The correct dose is the minimum dose sufficient to facilitate evacuation. It is advisable to initially use the prescribed minimum doses.
Adults and Adolescents (12–18 years): 1 adult suppository as needed, maximum 1 or 2 administrations per day.
Laxatives should be used as rarely as possible and for no longer than seven days. A diet rich in fluids promotes the effect of the medicine.
Mode of application
Remove the suppository from the container and then, if necessary, moisten it to facilitate rectal administration. If suppositories appear soft, immerse containers in cold water before opening.
Overdose
No cases of overdose have been reported. In any case, excessive doses (laxative abuse – frequent or prolonged use or in excessive doses) can cause abdominal pain, persistent diarrhea with subsequent loss of water, mineral salts (especially potassium) and other important nutritional factors. Loss of fluid and electrolyte must be replenished. Electrolyte imbalance is characterized by the following symptoms: thirst, vomiting, weakness, swelling, bone pain (osteomalacia) and hypoalbuminemia. In more severe cases, dehydration or hypokalemia may occur, which can cause cardiac or neuromuscular dysfunction, especially during concomitant treatment with cardiac glycosides, diuretics or cortico. Overuse of laxatives, especially contact laxatives (stimulant laxatives), can cause dependence (and therefore the possible need to gradually increase dosage), chronic constipation, and loss of normal bowel function (intestinal atony). In case of accidental ingestion/excessive dosage of glycerin, consult a doctor or the nearest hospital immediately.
Contraindications
Suppositories Glycerin Sofar for adults are contraindicated for:

severe abdominal pain or unknown origin
nausea or vomiting
intestinal obstruction or stricture
rectal bleeding of unknown origin
acute hemorrhoidal crisis with pain and bleeding
severe dehydration
