“Both rotaviruses and adenoviruses are a leading cause of gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea, abdominal pain and vomiting). Infections caused by these viruses can be severe in young children, older adults, or immunocompromised patients. The test device (test tablet) contains two test fields – one for rotavirus and one for adenovirus.
Action
The test is performed in case of diarrhea, abdominal pain and vomiting. Both rotaviruses and adenoviruses are a leading cause of gastrointestinal infections (and associated syndromes) in humans, especially children and the elderly. Adenovirus is mainly associated with infectious gastroenteritis, but also with many other diseases, such as pharyngitis, bronchitis (if it occurs in the respiratory tract) or keratoconjunctivitis. Rotavirus and adenovirus infections are easily transmitted through contact with contaminated objects or other environmental surfaces contaminated with feces.
How to perform the ROTADENO-Screening test for rotaviruses and adenoviruses?
Unscrew the cap of the sample collection bottle and dip the end (stick) into the stool sample.
Reinsert the cap containing the stool sample into the diluent (diluent) vial.
Screw the cap on tightly and shake well to dissolve the stool sample in the diluent.
Hold the bottle upright and slowly add exactly 5 drops of diluent to each sample well on the test plate.
Read the test result after 10 minutes.

If the result is positive, it means that rotavirus and/or adenovirus are present in the stool sample. You should see your doctor and show him the test results, especially if you are immunocompromised or the test was performed on a child. Your doctor will decide the next steps.
