“It is used to treat dry inflammation of the conjunctiva and cornea, as well as symptoms of dry eye syndrome caused by insufficient tear production, which leads to impaired rinsing of the surface of the eye with tears. The most common symptoms of dry eye syndrome are burning eyes, soreness, irritation, foreign body or gritty sensation, pressure, eye fatigue, a feeling of eyelids sticking to the eye, and photophobia.
Pharmaceutical form
Viscous gel, colorless to slightly yellowish, transparent or slightly opalescent, in a transparent plastic bottle with a dropper and a screw cap.
Drug substance and its quantity
The active ingredient is carbomer 974 R. One g of gel contains carbomer 974 R 2.5 mg (1 g = 40 drops).
How to use
The product is intended for ophthalmic use. The recommended dose for adults, adolescents and children is 1 drop of OFTAGEL eye gel 1–4 times a day into the affected eye, depending on the severity of the problem. The drug is applied to the conjunctival sac.
What to watch out for
This product may be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but should always be consulted with a physician.
The safety and effectiveness of Oftagel ophthalmic gel in children and adolescents at dosages recommended for adults has been established based on clinical experience, but clinical trial data are not available.
