“Description
The agent contains simethicone, which reduces the surface tension of gas bubbles contained in food and gastrointestinal mucus, causing them to burst. The gases released in this way can be absorbed by the intestinal walls and then expelled with the peristaltic movements of the intestines. It is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and is excreted unchanged.
As an additional aid, the preparation is used before ultrasound, radiological and gastroscopic examinations as well as after surgical procedures. Can be used in children over 1 year of age. in the case of intestinal colic, and in poisoning with surfactants administered to reduce foaming of the gastrointestinal contents.
Composition
Active substance: 1 ml of emulsion (20 drops) contains 40 mg of simethicone.
Dosage
Orally. In cases of excessive gas accumulation in the digestive tract, infants from 2 months of age: 1 ml (20 drops) daily in 2-4 divided doses; children 2-6 years of age: 1 ml 3-5 times a day; children 7-14 years of age: 1-2 ml 3-5 times a day; adolescents and adults: 2 ml 3-5 times a day. To prepare patients for diagnostic tests in the abdominal cavity: on the day before the test – 2 capsules in the evening or 2 ml drops 3 times a day and in the morning on the day of the test – 2 capsules or 2 ml drops. As an addition to the contrast agent suspension: 4-8 ml per 1000 ml of contrast agent used during double contrast examination. In case of poisoning with surfactants, depending on the severity of the poisoning, children: 2.5-10 ml, adults: 10-20 ml. The preparation should be taken during or after a meal and, if necessary, before bedtime; treatment should be continued until the symptoms subside, the preparation can be administered for a longer period of time. For infants, administer simethicone in the form of drops by adding it to a bottle with milk or with a small amount of liquid on a spoon before or after breastfeeding.
Action
Simethicone reduces the surface tension of gas bubbles contained in food and gastrointestinal mucus, causing them to burst and be absorbed by the intestinal walls or expelled. When performing ultrasound and radiological examinations of the stomach, intestines, pancreas, gallbladder and kidneys, it prevents gases and foaming food content from overlapping the image of the examined organs. Simethicone is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and is excreted unchanged.
Indications
Symptomatic treatment of gastrointestinal disorders associated with excessive gas accumulation (flatulence), also after surgery
An aid in preparing patients for abdominal examinations (radiological, ultrasound, gastroscopic examinations); in studies using double contrast as an additional substance administered together with a contrast agent
In the adjunctive treatment of intestinal colic in infants over 1 month of age. and in poisoning with surfactants as an agent that reduces foaming of the digestive tract contents.
