“Description
Nasic Kids is a medicine containing two active substances: xylometazoline hydrochloride and dexopanthenol. Nasic Kids is used for the symptomatic treatment of nasal obstruction caused by colds and after nasal surgery in children aged 2 to 6 years.
Composition
The active substances of the drug are xylometazoline hydrochloride and dexopanthenol.
10 g of solution contains 5 mg of xylometazoline hydrochloride and 500 mg of dexopanthenol.
One dose of nasal spray (0.1 ml of solution, equivalent to 0.10 g) contains 0.05 mg of xylometazoline hydrochloride and 5.0 mg of dexopanthenol.
The other ingredients are: benzalkonium chloride solution (0.02 mg per spray dose), potassium
dihydrogen phosphate, disodium phosphate dodecahydrate (Eur.Ph), purified water.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
Children aged 2 to 6 years:
One spray in each nostril once or twice a day (every 8-10 hours).
Do not administer more than three doses into each nostril per day.
Do not use Nasic Kids for longer than 7 days unless your doctor has specifically told you to continue using it.
Re-use should only take place after a break of several days.
Action: accelerates wound healing and regenerates the mucous membrane.
Indications
Indications for use of the drug are nasal obstruction in the course of colds and after nasal surgery.
Contraindications
When not to use:
If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to xylometazoline hydrochloride, dexopanthenol or any of the other ingredients of nasic kids,
In children under 2 years of age.
If you suffer from dry rhinitis with crusting, i.e. atrophic rhinitis.
After surgical removal of the pituitary gland through the nose (transsphenoidal hypophysectomy) and after other surgical procedures that expose the dura mater.
Nasic Kids contains benzalkonium chloride as a preservative, so it should not be used by people with known hypersensitivity to this substance.
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
The frequency of adverse reactions is defined according to the following convention:
Very common: more than 1 in 10 people
Common: less than 1 in 10 people
Uncommon: less than 1 in 100 people
Rare: less than 1 in 1,000 people
Very rare: less than 1 in 10,000 people
Frequency not known: frequency cannot be estimated from the available data.
Nervous system disorders:
Very rare: agitation, insomnia, fatigue (e.g. drowsiness, sedation), headache, hallucinations (especially in children)
Heart disorders:
Rare: palpitations (palpitations), increased heart rate (tachycardia)
Very rare: heart rhythm disturbances (cardiac arrhythmias)
Vascular disorders:
Rare: high blood pressure (hypertension)
Respiratory, thoracic and mediastinal disorders:
Very rare: after the drug wears off, increased swelling of the nasal mucosa, nosebleeds
Frequency unknown: burning sensation and dryness of the nasal mucosa, sneezing
Musculoskeletal and connective tissue disorders:
Very rare: cramps (especially in children)
Immune system disorders:
Uncommon: hypersensitivity reactions (e.g. swelling of the skin and mucous membranes, skin rash, itching)
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor before using Nasic Kids if you:
Taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO inhibitors) or other drugs that may cause an increase in blood pressure,
Increased intraocular pressure, especially if the patient suffers from narrow-angle glaucoma,
Severe cardiovascular diseases (e.g. ischemic heart disease, hypertension),
Heart disease (e.g. long QT syndrome),
Pheochromocytoma (adrenal medullary tumor),
Metabolic diseases (e.g. hyperthyroidism, diabetes),
Allergies to sympathomimetic substances; the use of the drug in people with such allergies may cause insomnia, dizziness, tremors, heart rhythm disturbances and increased blood pressure,
A metabolic disorder called porphyria
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (hyperplasia of the prostate gland).
Due to the risk of atrophy of the nasal mucosa, the drug should be used in chronic rhinitis under medical supervision.
Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Taking other medicines
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, and also tell your doctor”
