How to use
Preparing a cold gel compress:
To cool, place the compress in the refrigerator or freezer about two hours before your procedure. To avoid mechanical damage to the compress, place foil under the compress or place it on a plate in the freezer.
After removing the compress from the freezer, dry it, wrap it in a towel and apply it to the affected area of the body. The first procedure should not last more than 10 minutes. Gradually increase the duration of subsequent treatments to a maximum of 20 minutes.
Preparation of a gel compress for heat therapy:
To heat the compress, place it in a saucepan so that it is completely immersed in water and heat it, preferably to a temperature of 70°C. Do not allow water to boil under any circumstances.
After removing from the water, dry the compress, check if the compress is damaged, wrap it in a towel or cloth and apply it to your body to check if it is too hot. If yes, let it cool. Then apply it to the affected area.
After the procedure, wash the compress with soap and water, dry with a towel and leave in a dry, shaded place.
Do not apply the compress directly to the skin (neither cold nor warm), and do not use it while sleeping.
Contraindications
Cold treatment is not recommended for persons with inflammatory processes in the chronic period of the disease, increased sensitivity to cold, Raynaud’s syndrome, inflammation of the bladder and renal pelvis, vasculitis, severe heart and vascular diseases, frostbite, Sudek’s syndrome and in a state of exhaustion and general weakness.
Any local thermal procedures are contraindicated in acute diseases, injuries of bones and joints (fractures), degenerative changes in joints, bone decalcification, frostbite, leg ulcers or osteoarticular tuberculosis.
